I would like to give you a brief introduction to my history in communications.
After leaving school, I joined HM Forces and was the youngest soldier in my Battalion at the time. I spent the majority of my Army career in the telecoms field, generally dealing with radio communications and line laying installs – funny how I do the same type of work now but with different cables now.
On leaving the forces, me and another Army leaver, decided to set up a company in data communications. We named the original company DataNet Cabling Services, which initially provided labour only services to main contractors.
We were fortunate enough to land contracts working on RAF sites and an office refit, which was in turn rolled out nationwide. These jobs and the profit we earned allowed us to start building the company with the right resources and training to develop ourselves into a company able to compete with other cabling contractors.
We invested heavily back in to the company, purchasing new vans, IT Systems, training and specialist test equipment so we could offer the full turnkey solution and not just the labour.
After 2 years we were advised to become a Limited Company from a Partnership as this would make us more credible when going for larger projects, and would also help us to acquire larger clients. We also started to diversify into new service offerings and thought it a good idea to change our name to re-brand ourselves. This is where Gatehouse Technologies Ltd was formed.
We decided to move from a small computer and desk at home to a new office in Huddersfield, allowing us to keep stock on the shelves and giving us the chance to grow.
8 years down the line both myself and the other Director decided that we would prefer to go it alone. I always think back on our partnership as a marriage and unfortunately marriages do not always work out. We were lucky enough to have a 50% allocation of clients that we served and they all welcomed the change to my new business.
Integral Network Solutions Ltd was formed and I moved back home to Barnsley to a new office. I was lucky enough to keep the best of breed staff and two of them even followed me to Barnsley to be close to the business. Loyalty is a great attribute in any individual. Thank you, Arran and Georgie.
During the last few years at Integral we have managed to complete our largest single project to date and secure better profits each year than any other previous year.
I would like to think that some of the reason that we get as much repeat business and respect is due to the 12 years experience and the attributes that were instilled in to me during my days in the Forces. These being – attention to detail, leadership, the will to succeed, competitiveness, communication skills, self discipline, consistent and uniform results and the ability to manage and work as a strong team.
My future vision is like any business – to be the best company in our field.
My and the company's values are:
- Honesty
- Integrity
- Commitment
- Professionalism
- Fun
- Innovation
"We really do care about you and your business. Just give us a try"
